Join us as we start string racing!

We have designed and developed small battery-powered vehicles that run along a tensioned string via a motor-driven wheel, and we are asking all library patrons and staff to come into the Makerspace to be part of our first event. After getting trained on both the 3D printer and laser cutter, one has everything they need to build a string racer of their own.

All levels of expertise are welcome as we've created designs that have already been tested for laser-cut parts and 3D printed parts. Participants are also more than welcome to use Makerspace equipment to create their own original racer as well.

Participants must sign up in the Makerspace, and we will only have 16 spaces available for this first race day.

Building is already under way in the Makerspace, and the race will begin on Aug. 8. Each participant will take on another in a drag race format until we have determined a winner.

Let's go racing!
